Celebrating Women in Technology: A Tribute for Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, a time to honor the incredible contributions women have made to society, including the ever-evolving field of technology. As a women who spent more than 18years in the field of technology and the owner of Code Wiz Rutherford, I believe in fostering a future where young minds—especially young girls—are empowered to innovate, create, and lead in the world of STEM.

The Power of Representation

For decades, women have played a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape. Pioneers like Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer; Grace Hopper, who developed the first compiler; and Katherine Johnson, whose calculations were vital to NASA’s early space missions, paved the way for future generations. Despite their immense contributions, women are still underrepresented in STEM fields today. By shining a light on their achievements, we inspire the next generation to break barriers and continue driving innovation.

Encouraging Young Girls in STEM

At Code Wiz Rutherford, we are committed to closing the gender gap in technology by providing a welcoming and supportive environment where young girls can explore coding, robotics, and game development. Through hands-on learning experiences in Scratch, Roblox, and robotics, we help build confidence and excitement in technology from an early age.

Here are some ways we celebrate and encourage young girls in STEM:

  • Role Model Spotlights – Highlighting inspiring women in technology to show our students that success in STEM is achievable for anyone.

  • Girls Scouts Workshops – Special sessions designed to encourage collaboration and learning among young female coders.

  • Creative Coding Challenges – Encouraging girls to build and share their own tech projects in a supportive community.

Celebrating Women in Tech Today

Beyond historical figures, today’s tech world is filled with incredible women leading innovations. From Fei-Fei Li’s groundbreaking work in artificial intelligence to Reshma Saujani’s advocacy for girls in coding through Girls Who Code, modern-day role models continue to inspire the next wave of tech leaders. By celebrating these women, we reinforce the message that technology is for everyone.

Join Us in the Celebration

This Women’s History Month, we invite you to celebrate the achievements of women in technology with us. Whether you’re a parent, educator, or student, you can be a part of the movement by encouraging young girls to explore STEM fields, supporting initiatives that promote diversity in tech, and sharing the stories of trailblazing women who have changed the world.

Let’s work together to build a future where all young minds—regardless of gender—have the opportunity to thrive in technology. Visit Code Wiz Rutherford to learn more about our programs and how we’re shaping the future, one coder at a time!
